Welcome to another GoProvidence Weekend Roundup. A full lighting of WaterFire, a night of comedy and everyone's favorite genie are on schedule for this weekend.
Friday, August 5
Start your weekend off with a laugh at the Comedy Connection of Rhode Island as John Perrotta takes the stage. John is a local comedian who has performed on many stages such as Catch a Rising Star, Joker's Wild and much more. Friday's events start at 8 and 10 p.m.
Head over to the Theatre by the Sea with the kids to enjoy the classic story of "Aladdin" in person. This production of "Aladdin" is perfect for the little ones, with show times at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Saturday, August 6
Eat Drink RI Central Market Preview
Head over to the location of the new Eat Drink RI Central Market for a preview day. The market will feature more than 26 vendors selling local food, drinks and farm produce. The market is located at the new Providence/Newport Ferry terminal. Open rain or shine from 2 to 6 p.m.
WaterFire will be holding a full lighting starting at sunset this Saturday. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of WaterFire, an art installation of nearly 100 bonfires set ablaze on the surface of three rivers right in the middle of Providence. This WaterFire is sponsored by Hep C Hope: A WaterFire Lighting for RI Defeats Hep C. The fires are lit at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, August 7
Enjoy the Broadway hit musical "Avenue Q" come alive at Ocean State Theatre Company. "Avenue Q" follows a recent college graduate as he moves into a New York neighborhood, but soon finds out that living on your own isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sunday's show starts at 2 p.m.
