Welcome to another GoProvidence Weekend Roundup. Those pesky flying monkeys, a WaterFire lighting and the final days of Restaurant Weeks are all in store this weekend.   

Friday, July 22

The Wizard of Oz
Join Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow on an adventure down the Yellow Brick Road at Theatre by the Sea's production of "The Wizard of Oz." You and your family will  enjoy classic songs from the movie along with dazzling special effects. Friday's show starts at 8 p.m. and the production runs through August 13.

Mark Normand
Mark Normand, a regular on the New York comedy scene, comes to Rhode Island Comedy Connection this Friday for a show you won't want to miss. Mark has been a regular around the comedy festivals all around the country, winning awards in many different areas and even appearing on Conan. Friday's shows are at 8 and 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 23

WaterFire
WaterFire will be holding a full lighting starting at sunset this Saturday. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of WaterFire, an art installation of nearly 100 bonfires set ablaze on the surface of three rivers right in the middle of Providence. This WaterFire is sponsored by Cox Business. The fires are lit at 7:30 p.m.

Shakespeare en el Verano
Trinity Repertory Company and Rhode Island Latino Arts are coming together to bring Shakespeare en el Verano (Shakespeare in the Summer). This special premiere is a bilingual English-Spanish adaptation of Shakespeare’s "Romeo and Juliet" set outside in beautiful Waterplace Park. The show starts at 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by the lighting of WaterFire.

And don't forget that we're at the tail end of Providence Restaurant Weeks, which ends on Saturday, July 23. Visit ProvidenceRestaurantWeeks.com to check out the menus for nearly 100 different restaurants. Pick your choice of a three-course lunch for $14.95, or a three-course dinner for $29.95 or $34.95. Some restaurants are even offering two-for-one specials.

The Providence Flea
Wrap up your weekend with a stroll through The Providence Flea on the Providence River Greenway. The Providence Flea features upcycled, vintage and handcrafted items, along with a fantastic food truck selection. The market is held rain or shine starting at 10 a.m.
