Well, this is it, summer is almost over and the kids are back in school. We could cry over the traffic and added stress, or we can look for the silver lining: new fall menus, drink specials and sweater weather, just to name a few. I for one am very excited at the thought of leaves crunching beneath my feet while wearing a light (but fashionable) jacket! Here are a few things to get you excited for fall as well.

PWCVB NEWS
Tourism Cares Providence

The PWCVB is partnering with Tourism Cares this week on September 14 and 15. This great program pulls together 200 tourism professionals to work on local projects to help improve the experience of both visitors and residents. Some of the projects include planting and beautification in India Point Park and Burnside Park, cleaning up and painting along the RiverWalk, as well as a mural project on Federal Hill. We are excited to see the results of all of this hard work.

Our next Partner Meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at Iron Works Tavern in Warwick (parking available). Please RSVP to Beth-Anne Tremaine.

Remember to save the date for the PWCVB's Annual MeetingThursday, Nov. 2 at the WaterFire Arts Center, 475 Valley Street in Providence. Keep an eye out for invitations soon.

As always, be sure to add your events to our online calendar. It may take up to seven days for your event to be posted on our website, so plan accordingly. Limit descriptions to 180 characters if possible. If you have any questions, please contact CRM Database and Research Coordinator Beth-Anne Tremaine.

Hurricanes have been devastating this season. Ferreira Companies, along with Salvation Army, are accepting donations to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. They are seeking donations of the following: cleaning supplies (mops, buckets, gloves and masks), baby supplies (diapers, wipes, formula, bottles and pacifiers), canned pet food and pet supplies, personal hygiene products, non-perishable canned goods and bottled water. Donations may be dropped off at several PWCVB partner businesses during business hours, including Hillside Country Club, Dublin Rose, The Whiskey Republic and Stout Irish Sports Bar.

Caritas Smile, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and children in the U.S. and developing countries, in partnership with the Lobster Pot in Bristol, is making waves as it hosts an end of summer cocktail reception called “Cocktails by the Sea,” where diapers and feminine products will be collected and shipped to families affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas. The event is on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 4–7 p.m. at the Lobster Pot on its beautiful waterfront patio. This networking event for a good cause will feature a silent auction, cash bar, great food and opportunities to volunteer with Caritas Smile.
