Whether you’re planning a date night for Valentine’s Day or are just looking for a cozy spot to warm up these cold winter nights, Providence has an embarrassment of riches. With its critically acclaimed food scene and eclectic personality, it’s hard to go wrong. Here are a few of my favorite romantic spots in Providence!

Los Andes

Everyone knows the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach! Well, it is for me anyway, and there is no better place to get a flavorful and absolutely delicious dish than Los Andes. Besides their amazing food, they also have unique cocktails, all in a fun setting. Want to whet your whistle? Check out this clip of them on the Summer Stars segment of "The Rhode Show."

Pot au Feu

Want to travel to Paris without leaving Providence? Head to Pot au Feu! Reminiscent of a classic French bistro, “the Pot” (OK, maybe I’m the only one who calls it that) offers cuisine like boeuf a la bourguignon, crepes, and probably the best soupe a l’oignon I’ve ever tasted. It’s all set in cozy stone bistro with a lot of history, and if you are very lucky, perhaps owner Bob Burke will regale you with tales of Julia Child. Ooh la la!

The Magdalenae Room at The Dean

Snuggle up with your sweetie at this sexy bar. Get a craft cocktail in the discreet lounge set in the back of The Dean Hotel, which feels like you’re stepping into another time and place.

Pastiche

When you’re talking romance in the Creative Capital, you can’t leave out “The Hill.” Federal Hill is truly a gem in the heart of Providence any time of year, but if you venture out during these chilly months, my suggestion is to bundle up and take a stroll through DePasquale Square, then warm up with a cappuccino and sweet treat at Pastiche. Personally, I go for chocolate, but it’s rumored that their fruit tart has been known to make grown men cry.

What, you don’t know what that means? It’s “Bring Your Own Hot Cocoa,” of course! I know, it’s New England. It’s winter. It’s cold. But, if you are brave enough to battle the elements (in your cutest pompom hat!) you’ll be rewarded with picturesque views from the most beautiful little state with the biggest heart. Pack a thermos full of hot cocoa (adult spirits optional *wink*) and head over to Prospect Park, India Point Park, Waterplace Park or one of the many other beautiful spots our city has to offer, and enjoy a one-on-one sunset with your boo. What could be more romantic than that?
