Welcome to another GoProvidence Weekend Roundup. Colorful dancers, fantastic fireworks, and opera in the open round out some of the great things happening in the city this weekend.

 

 Friday, July 3: 

2015 North American Irish Dance Championships
Elaborate hairstyles and sequined dresses can be seen throughout the Rhode Island Convention Center. No, it's not a beauty pageant, it's a dance competition. The North American Irish Dance Championships are being held in Providence all weekend. Check out top dancers from all over the world at this one-of-a-kind event. Admission is $25 and is open to New England residents, with proof of identification. Check out their website for details on days and times.

Family Fun Friday: Toe Jam Puppet Band
Head on over to Bristol, RI to check out the Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum with the family and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Toe Jam Puppet Band. Bring your own blankets and chairs and sit out on the amazing lawn of this beautiful mansion. The show starts at 11 a.m.

 Saturday, July 4:
 

BankRI Independence Day Celebration
The Bank RI Independence Day Celebration at India Point Park will feature the wonderful music of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Pops conducted by Francisco Noya. Be sure to stay until the music ends for a fantastic display of fireworks lighting up the night sky over the Providence Harbor. Space fills up fast, so head down early for this wonderful event. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks are at 9:15 p.m.

Chalk the Walk
Bring your kids out to the Providence Children's Museum to Chalk up the Walk. Kids make their mark at the Museum by creating colorful and imaginative drawings and doodles on the sidewalk. Help them explore their imagination and creativity with this fun, interactive event. Starts at 9 a.m.

 Sunday, July 5:

Opera in the Park at Hopkins Square
Enjoy Opera Providence's performances of George Gershwin's greatest hits out in the open. Opera Providence helps engage and inspire audiences of all ages with the wonderful art of opera. This beautiful showcase will be happening at Hopkins Park starting at 5 p.m.
