Welcome to another GoProvidence Weekend Roundup. A country mashup of songwriters, crazy cthulhu characters and delicious seafood are just a few things you'll expect to see this weekend.

 Friday, August 21: 

Songwriters Festival of Rhode Island
Celebrate the art of music in the "Creative Capital" at the first-ever Songwriters Festival of Rhode Island  at the Rhode Island Convention Center, where you can hear some of the greatest and up-and-coming pop country artists. Tickets are $45 per person with a VIP option of $75, and include all performances. Food will be provided by local restaurant sponsors between performances. VIP tickets include access to the Green Room and a special meet-and-greet hour before the festival. Don't miss this musical extravaganza, headlined by Rhode Island's own Billy Gilman.

Young Frankenstein
It's alive! It's alive! And sure to crack you up. Take a trip down to Matunuck's Theatre by the Sea for their production of "Young Frankenstein" running through September 6. Enjoy this side-splitting take on the Frankenstein legend, based on the Mel Brooks classic movie masterpiece.

 Saturday, August 22:

Celebrate H.P. Lovecraft's Birthday!
Celebrate H.P Lovecraft's 125th birthday! Join the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the RI Historical Society in the celebration of this famed RI author with a tour of the historic College Hill neighborhood where Lovecraft drew most of his inspiration. The tour departs from the John Brown House and ends with a post-walk film screening. Space is limited, so RSVP is required.

The Looff: East Providence Arts Festival 
Join the East Providence Arts Council in Crescent Park on Saturday, August 22 for the first Annual East Providence Arts Festival. Enjoy more than 60 artists, craftspeople, musicians and entertainers. All artists will be selling their work, and food will be available with a choice from food trucks. Entertainment will also be available throughout the day. The festival runs from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

 Sunday, August 23:

Aqua Lobster Splash
Discover Aqua at the Providence Marriott Downtown during their first annual Lobster Splash. Open to the public for a ticketed price, come enjoy one bucket of mixed seafood that includes one whole lobster, clams, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. Also, enjoy a selection of three beers from Pawtucket, Rhode Island's own Foolproof Brewery, which has brewed a special beer just for this occasion. Tickets are $65 and the event runs from noon - 4 p.m.
