Textile merchant Henry Lippitt, his wife and six children lived in this opulent Italian Renaissance Revival house, a testament to the burgeoning wealth of industrial Providence. This National Historic Landmark features finely crafted interiors. Preserve Rhode Island now operates the house as a museum.
The museum is open every Friday, May to October, 1:00-5:00 pm. It is also open on the third Saturday of each month 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Guided tours are offered on the hour with the last tour one hour before closing. Visitors can also take a self-guided tour and explore hands-on activities in the Lippitt Lab.
