A Day On College Hill

brownsideimageWelcome to Providence, Rhode Island, a city of contrasts, innovation and respect for tradition. It blends the hip with the historic, urban sophistication with small town friendliness, and walkability with accessibility. Sightseers leisurely glide in gondolas on the Providence River, past gleaming office buildings. Cobblestone streets lead to some of the finest restaurants in the country. This unique mix makes Providence a wonderful place to visit and a rewarding city in which to spend your college years.

I hope that you will explore the city during your time at Brown. Our vibrant neighborhoods make Providence truly unique. Federal Hill - our little Italy - is home to dozens of restaurants, bakeries and food shops. The lovely East Side features historic homes, graceful, tree-lined streets and eclectic shopping. Downtown Providence boasts stunning river views and myriad entertainment options. The West Broadway area is a haven for up-and-coming artists and adventurous restaurants featuring exciting cuisine prepared by talented young chefs. Great music can be heard in dozens of venues and our internationally acclaimed theater attracts visitors from around the region and beyond.

I am proud to welcome Brown University's students and parents to our city. I know that you will grow to love Providence as much as I do.

Sincerely,

Elorza Sig
