Drawing thousands of music lovers from all over the Northeast, the seventh annual Sound Session is scheduled from July 8-10, 2011, in Providence, RI. Presented by Providence Inner City Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to making art programming accessible throughout the "Creative Capital," Sound Session is a multi-genre music festival featuring performances by reggae star Stephen Marley and his band the Ghetto Youths Crew, jazz percussionist Bobby Sanabria, world fusionist Toby Foyeh and Orchestra Africa, among many others.
Performances begin each day at 6 a.m. and last until 1 a.m., and the concerts will be held at a variety of venues throughout the city including Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel, Roots Café and the Bank of America City Center. Weekend passes to Sound Session are available for $100 per person, and include the opportunity to experience an eclectic mix of Cajun, West African Rhythm, traditional Irish dancing music, hip hop and many more national and homegrown performers.
Travelers to Providence can take advantage of the Sound Session package at the Hotel Providence. For $179 per night, the package includes accommodations for Friday and Saturday evenings, daily breakfast for two at Aspire and a ticket to Saturday's Sound Session, as well as passes to the Bobby Sanabria workshop and a VIP reception at Roots Café.
