The RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC POPS ORCHESTRA will perform for the BankRI Independence Day Celebration on Wednesday July 4th at India Point Park, Providence at 7:30pm. BankRI's Independence Day Celebration is produced by the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism with sponsorship assistance from the Department of Parks & Recreation, Lite Rock 105 and the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitor's Bureau. Resident Conductor FRANCISCO NOYA will conduct the concert. MISS USA 2012, OLIVIA CULPO will open the concert singing America the Beautiful. The concert is immediately followed by a fireworks display. The rain date for this concert and fireworks is Thursday July 5, same time, same place.
Conductor FRANCISCO NOYA is a well-known figure in the Boston-New England music scene. He served as Music Director of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra in Boston for 12 sea¬sons and is a prominent member of the Conducting Faculty at the Berklee College of Mu¬sic in Boston. As Resi¬dent Conductor of the Rhode Island Philhar-monic Orchestra, Mr. Noya conducts the education concerts, POPS-PHIL-PPAC concerts and Summer Pops concerts.
