Prior to opening Stock, Jan Faust Dane was the Director of Culinary Education and Food Forager for the Ocean House in Watch Hill. A career in journalism led to a several-year stint authoring city guidebooks focused only on local and independent retail shops and chef-owned restaurants. She also wrote for Edible Rhody and Rhode Island Monthly. A native of Portland, Oregon, and previously a resident of Seattle, Los Angeles and New York City, Jan moved here 22 years ago and is a fierce Providence booster because of what she characterizes as, "the unparalleled Culture-to-Hassle Ratio.” An avid cook, a proud Classical parent, and a big believer in the power of community, she lives in Mt. Hope with her family.
