Providence is home to nationally recognized chefs and restaurants, along with one of the foremost culinary programs at Johnson & Wales University. 2020 was a tough year for the restaurant industry, but that doesn’t mean there weren't some restaurants that took a chance. Here are a few restaurants that have opened in 2020 and early 2021.

The George

The George (on Washington Street) is the newest piano bar to hit the scene. Opening in the old Local 121 building at 121 Washington Street, this upscale, casual dining spot features American fare, delightful craft cocktails and piano nightly. Whether you pull up a stool in the piano bar or take a seat in the elegant dining room, The George's neighborly hospitality will make you feel like a longtime regular.

Pizza is something that we can all enjoy. Pizza Marvin on Wickenden Street is a new pizza-focused restaurant that offers New Haven-style pizzas with retro ‘80s and ‘90s flare. The menu has plenty of pizza, but there are also other locally grown and sourced foods including oysters, littlenecks and other seafood. They are open for takeout and delivery.

Res American Bistro
Res American Bistro

Res American Bistro is the latest restaurant to pop up in Providence. Taking over the old Bravo Bistro location right across from Trinity Rep, this chic, modern restaurant serves up classic American fare with handcrafted cocktails. Res might be the new kid on the block, but there's nothing amateur about its all-star menu.

Blush Bakeshop

Blush Bakeshop is a brand new, 100% vegan bakery nestled in the bustling Federal Hill neighborhood. With selections like doughnuts, muffins, fudge and even a soup of the day, you’ll be able to find something for even the pickiest of eaters. You can order everything in the shop online for pickup or delivery.

Happy dining!
