Glowing pumpkins, delicious treats, autumn festivities, costume contests and trick-or-treating are just some of the many Halloween activities offered in Providence this time of year for your family. Before this “spooky season” comes to an end, be sure to check out these wicked events!
Recurring daily through Nov. 4, the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular features an impressive exhibit of more than 5,000 intricately carved pumpkins. The whole family will enjoy scenes of wizards, fairy tales, superheroes and historical figures as they walk the darkened pathways of Roger Williams Park Zoo. At the end of the exhibit, enjoy fresh kettle corn, caramel apples and other seasonal offerings.
Spooky State House
Rhode Island’s Capitol will be the stage for the fourth annual Spooky State House on Thursday, Oct. 25. Dress in costume and roam the halls of the State House for a Rhode Island history-themed treasure hunt. Big Nazo creatures will be making a special appearance.
Little Pumpkins Party
Children ages 3–7 and their families are invited to the Providence Athenaeum to celebrate Halloween at the annual, never-too-spooky, Little Pumpkins Party on Thursday, Oct. 25. Dress in costume and enjoy refreshments and a lively interactive musical experience.
Mayor Jorge Elorza’s Monster Mash
Residents and guests of Providence are welcome to join Mayor Elorza at Providence City Hall for a free, family-friendly Monster Mash Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 26. Dress in costume for the costume contest and don’t forget to bring your candy bag to collect some treats!
On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28, grab a broomstick and fly over to Roger Williams Park Zoo for daytime, outdoor autumn activities for the whole family. Come trick or treat, experience animal encounters, and stay for the annual elephant Pumpkin Stomp, a meet and greet with costumed characters, and hands-on crafts.
Harry Potter Halloween Party
On Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m., families are invited to The Duck and Bunny for a Harry Potter Halloween Party. Enjoy an afternoon of tea, tricks and treats, then savor a Harry Potter-themed menu, butter beer and sweets in the evening. Dress in costume!
