World Vegan Day is Nov. 1, which is also the beginning of the first PVD Vegan Restaurant Week. From Nov. 1–7, nearly two dozen Providence-area restaurants will showcase their best animal-free dining options during a weeklong celebration of the city's vegan cuisine. Participating restaurants will offer exclusive plant-based specials or a complete three-course prix fixe dining experience.
At Angelo's you can enjoy a bean salad or Emilio's Special, cavatelli pasta sautéed in oil and fresh garlic with sliced black olives and broccoli florets, or head over to Roma Capoccia for a vegan slice. Specials include a roasted butternut squash pizza with lacinato kale, shitake chips and cashew cream, and an agrodolce cauliflower pizza with sultanas, fried capers, Kalamata olives and roasted almonds.
If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, Allepo Sweets has you covered with vegan baklava all week long, while Like No Udder will be serving up special frozen treats, including a baklava sundae.
When it comes to vegan dining, Rhode Island is no small blip on the radar. The city's seen the opening of the world's first vegan ice cream truck (followed by a brick-and-mortar store) with Like No Udder and the world's first vegan food hall, Plant City.
