Rhode Island Comic Con, “the biggest show in the smallest state,” returns to Providence from Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3. The three-day extravaganza takes place at the Rhode Island Convention Center and the Dunkin' Donuts Center, featuring some of Hollywood’s top celebrities, artists, cosplay, vendors and more. Take a look at some insider tips on how to join in on Rhode Island Comic Con's weekend of festivities.
After a day of stargazing, continue the fun at the official RI Comic Con after-parties. Start your Comic Con weekend out right with DJ Darth Fader at the Halloween Strikes Back after-party on Friday starting at 10 p.m. On Saturday, you'll be heading to Hawaii (sort of) with luau dancing, games, prizes and celebrity guests starting at 10 p.m.
A comic con wouldn't be complete without a kids area. Bring the kids down to see all of the fun costumes, and enjoy face painting and balloon artists. And, let's not forget what they really came for — the Saber Guild Padawan Training. With the help of their talented Jedi Masters, your young ones will earn the rank of Padawan, and get to take home a certificate to prove it! This program is free for ages 6–12.
Get Your Fright on Before Comic Con
If you're looking for more ways to celebrate all things Comic Con, head over to the special screening at the Showcase Cinemas Providence of classic horror movie "A Nightmare of Elm Street," with commentary by Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund. There will be a special Q&A with Englund before the screening at 8:30 p.m. along with a meet and greet. Be sure to nab your tickets ahead of time! No costumes or claws are allowed at this screening.
