You can smell fall in the air with crisp cool evenings, kids in Halloween costumes, yummy cider and sweet treats. The best part of autumn in Rhode Island, the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, sponsored by Citizens Bank, returns to Roger Williams Park Zoo Oct. 3–Nov. 3.

Each year the delightful show brings thousands of visitors from all over the world. This year, guests will travel through a seasonal wonderland and celebrate the joys of New England. Visitors will feast their senses on autumn’s beauty, winter’s swirling snow, spring’s first blossoms and summer’s ocean breezes intricately carved on thousands of pumpkins displayed along the zoo’s beautiful Wetlands Trail, complete with music and special effects. The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular also includes festive events, the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and sensory-friendly nights that should not be missed.

Family Fun Nights

We invite everyone to enjoy six family fun nights with jugglers, musicians, costumed characters, special guests and lots of surprises. Each week offers a different theme, and children 12 and under are encouraged to come in costume. These nights are included in the price of admission.

Fairy Tale Nights
Oct. 9 & 10

On Fairy Tale Nights you'll be able to meet some princesses, princes or other fairy tale characters. Take your photo with your favorite one and be sure to look for a pumpkin with a princess on it!

Video Game Nights
Oct. 16 & 17

Strike a pose with some popular video game characters. You'll also be able to see the Batmobile! This photo op is one not to miss.

Superhero Nights
Oct. 23 & 24

You never know who might show up at the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. Comic book fans may meet Black Panther, Captain America, Iron Man or Spider-Man and the gang. Take a photo and find out how they all save the world.

Ticket pricing

No more long lines on weekends! Tickets for Prime Nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) are timed-entry tickets only from 6–10:30 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 10 p.m. Prime Night tickets are available online only at rwpzoo.org/jols.

Weekend ticket prices for adults are $18 and $15 for children ages 2–12. Children 1 and younger are always admitted free.

Tickets for Value Nights (Monday through Thursday from 6–10:30 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 10 p.m.) are available online and at zoo admissions. Adults are $15 and children are $12 (ages 2–12). Children 1 and younger are always admitted free.

Roger Williams Park Zoo members save $2 off adult and $1 off child tickets. Members must present a current Roger Williams Park Zoo membership card and another form of photo I.D. Reciprocal memberships do not apply.

Sensory-friendly nights

The zoo's hosting four sensory-friendly (no special effects or music), evenings Oct. 31–Nov. 3, from 5–6 p.m. Tickets are available ONLY at the zoo admissions booth.

Soar like an eagle

Don’t forget the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride. Open every night during the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, all riders must also purchase a same-night Jack-O-Lantern ticket at the admissions gate. If guests purchase their Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular tickets online, the ticket must be shown at the admission window in order to purchase Soaring Eagle tickets.
