Enjoy and celebrate Memorial Day Weekend this year at Roger Williams Park. The Boots to the Ground for Heroes Memorial returns to the park from May 25–May 28. In partnership with Operation Stand Down RI, approximately 7,000 boots adorned with American flags and name placards will be placed in the park by the Temple to Music to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.
On Sunday May 27, head down to the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park for a special Patriotic Concert by the 88th RI National Guard Army Band. The concert is a great outdoor activity for the whole family and free. PVD food trucks will be on-site at 11 a.m. and then again at 5 p.m., in preparation for the concert. New this year, following the concert at 8:30 p.m., is the Patriotic Laser Light Show. Don’t miss this spectacular evening in the park.
While visiting the park during Memorial Day Weekend, don’t forget to check out Roger Williams Park Zoo and Carousel Village. Take a swan boat ride, explore the park or even try the zip ride at the zoo. Spend Friday, May 25 at the weekly “Food Truck Friday” at Carousel Village with FoodTrucksIn.com. Ride the Carousel, explore Hasbro’s Boundless Playground, hop aboard the Carousel Express train, enjoy a camel ride (weather permitting), listen to live entertainment and more.
