The trees are lit, the holiday markets are open and it's the perfect time to be in Providence. As you stroll through the city, you're likely to notice the new light installations, especially as they brighten up the chilly December evenings.

The City of Providence, Providence Tourism Council, and other local partners have launched the Illuminate PVD campaign as a way to illuminate some of the city's bustling public spaces and striking buildings with festive holiday lighting.

While highlighting the special character and beautiful architecture of the city, these installations also offer a great photo opportunity! Whether you're still in need of a holiday card or just want to show off on Insta, take a second and snap a picture once you come across the snowflakes hanging throughout downtown or projected onto City Hall, or the life-sized ornaments in Biltmore Park. If you're posting to Instagram, be sure to tag your photos #illuminatepvd.

Head over to Thayer Street, between Bowen and Waterman streets, to find more oversized decorations as well as ice sculptures, live music and even the big guy from the North Pole, Santa, Saturdays from 12–2 p.m.
