Each season, STYLEWEEK Northeast welcomes designers from inside and outside of the New England area. This upcoming season, Season 14, is by far the most diverse season of STYLEWEEK Northeast, as a majority of the designers are from outside of Rhode Island. This is also the first season that STYLEWEEK Northeast will be showcasing an internationally based designer. Read below about a few of the respected designers that you can expect to see Feb. 21–24 at the Rhode Island Convention Center during STYLEWEEK!
Branded by The New York Times as a “Vintage Expert,” Bridgett Artise is the pioneering force behind her clothing brand, Born Again Vintage. Based in New York City, Artise specializes in recreating sustainable garments from recycled fabrics. Apart from being a designer, Artise is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she teaches two classes on vintage clothing. Artise is also an author. She has released her first book “Born-Again Vintage: 25 Ways to Deconstruct, Reinvent and Recycle Your Wardrobe,” which has been reviewed in more than 50 publications. Artise’s designs will take the runway on Friday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m.
Peach Carr is a self-taught Chicago-based designer, who finds inspiration from her childhood, music and art from the 60s and 70s. Carr is a "Project Runway" alumna, who was dubbed as “Country Club Chic” by Tim Gunn. All of Carr’s designs are made with stretch, machine-washable material. This allows for her garments to be comfortable, easily transitional and practical. Peach Carr will be showcasing her line on Friday, Feb. 23 at 8:15 p.m.
Amy Page DeBlasio
Amy Page DeBlasio is a Rhode Island native that designs for distinctive men and women who know who they are and can demand attention from others without having to speak. Her pieces are inspired from street wear and city elements. Each garment exhibits a wide range of style, patterns and textiles. Her clothing is a way of expression through mixing arrays of bold fabrics and luxe textiles. Each of the Amy Page DeBlasio pieces conveys its own message, while radiating movement and energy. DeBlasio’s collection will debut on the runway on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7:15 p.m.
Lloyd James Husband
Lloyd James Husband is a London-based fashion designer who will be traveling overseas to showcase his designs the closing night of STYLEWEEK Northeast on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. Husband has received many renowned achievements such as being the recipient of the British Fashion Council BA Scholarship, as well as being the winner of the Coach X British Fashion Council design competition. Through these, Husband has gained support from the British Fashion Council, which has allowed him to grow as both a young designer, and as a person. Husband’s collection allows any gender to emerge themselves into a universe of luxury and rock and roll.
Carlos De Moya
Carlos De Moya is a Dominican designer, who most recently moved to Rhode Island from New Jersey. He has a national and international presence, as he has partaken in various fashion events and shows, along with winning prestigious awards such as the “Best Pre-Porter Collection Femenina” in DominicanaModa. Carlos De Moya also has the responsibility of designing special costumes for important musicals and shows in the Dominican Republic. Apart from being a designer, he is a publicist and university professor. Carlos De Moya will be closing STYLEWEEK Northeast on Feb. 24 at 8:15 p.m.
