Whether you’re planning a date night for Valentine’s Day or just looking for a cozy evening in during these cold winter nights, Providence has an embarrassment of riches. With its critically acclaimed food scene and eclectic personality, it’s hard to go wrong. Here are a few of my favorite romantic spots in Providence to dine out or order dinner to go to enjoy at home.
Everyone knows the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach! Well, it is for me anyway, and there is no better place to get a flavorful and absolutely delicious dish than Los Andes. Besides their amazing food, they also have unique cocktails, all in a fun setting. Want to whet your whistle? Check out this clip of them on the Summer Stars segment of "The Rhode Show."
Want to travel to Paris without leaving Providence? Head to Pot au Feu! Reminiscent of a classic French bistro, “the Pot” (OK, maybe I’m the only one who calls it that) offers cuisine like boeuf a la bourguignon, crepes, and probably the best soupe a l’oignon I’ve ever tasted. It’s all set in a cozy stone bistro with a lot of history, and if you are very lucky, perhaps owner Bob Burke will regale you with tales of Julia Child. Ooh la la!
Head to Providence's hip West Side and warm up with a cocktail and dessert to go from Sin. Treats and drinks are paired to represent all seven deadly sins — they're wickedly delicious.
What, you don’t know what that means? It’s “Bring Your Own Hot Cocoa,” of course! I know, it’s New England. It’s winter. It’s cold. But, if you are brave enough to battle the elements (in your cutest pompom hat!) you’ll be rewarded with picturesque views from the most beautiful little state with the biggest heart.
Pack a thermos full of hot cocoa (adult spirits optional *wink*) and head over to Prospect Park, India Point Park, Waterplace Park, or one of the many other beautiful spots our city has to offer and enjoy a one-on-one sunset with your boo. What could be more romantic than that?
