May is a special time of year for all of us meat lovers — it kicks off the grilling season! Many of us will uncover our grills, long forgotten in the inclement weather, and stock up on ketchup and mustard (and relish for all of those strange people out there). But where can you get a good burger if you don't have a shiny new grill? We decided to go out and find four burgers that you should try this May in honor of National Burger Month.
The Prince of Providence - The Rosendale
Our first burger starts us off at The Rosendale. This masterful work of meat includes not one, but two kinds of meat in the patty. The Rosendale team combines both ground beef and short rib, topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, egg, lettuce and pickled red onions. With toppings like that, no wonder it's called the Prince of Providence.
Lamb Burger - Cook & Dagger
For our second burger, we ventured out of Providence to Greenville, Rhode Island to try out Cook & Dagger's Lamb Burger. As meat lovers, we do not discriminate amongst meat, so when I heard they were throwing together a lamb burger, I just had to try it. This burger is also different, in that it starts off with house-made pita. Next, comes the harissa yogurt, which has a bit of a kick to it. The ground lamb burger is laid on a bed of arugula and topped with whipped feta and pickled red onions. I've never had a lamb burger before, but I'm pretty sure this is the best one!
The M.O.A.B. (Mother of All Burgers) - Harry's on the Hill
For some reason, we all love tiny versions of things. This holds true for burgers too. Harry's has taken this to heart and provides sliders as their main burgers with delicious toppings. Our third burger is called The M.O.A.B., or The Mother of All Burgers. This burger (two sliders actually) has everything on it but the kitchen sink. Pair this delicious duo with a side of sweet potato fries and you're in for a good time.
The Bourbon Street Burger - Chelo's Hometown Grille
We end our burger pilgrimage with a stop at one of Rhode Island's classic restaurants, Chelo's, which has been serving delicious food for more than 60 years. We decided to check out their Bourbon Street Burger, which includes a 1/2 lb. Angus beef burger, BBQ sauce, Swiss cheese, onion rings and ranch dressing. If you're looking for a delicious burger at a great price, Chelo's is the place to go.
Thanks for joining me on this burger journey. Be sure to check out the restaurants above, and leave a comment about where your favorite place is to grab a burger.
