Read on to find the best spots to savor local flavor without the buzz!
There are plenty of reasons to skip the alcohol and order a mocktail. Maybe you need a break after the non-stop holiday parties. Or you're the designated driver. You might be part of the more than 50% of Gen Z that doesn't drink. Whatever your reason, we've got you covered with this collection of zero-proof versions of your favorite cocktails from every corner of the state.
Mojito
Who doesn't love a mojito? With just a few key ingredients, it's one of the easiest drinks to modify for an alcohol-free version. To keep it really simple, Avvio in Cranston uses Lyre's White Cane (an alcohol-free rum) in their Nojito. For something a little different, try Brass Monkey's Blackberry No-jito or Plant City's Grapefruit Nojito. If you're venturing outside Providence, Skeff's Pub in East Providence replaces the rum with a mango nectar in their Mango Mojito while Newport's Brick Alley Pub serves up a Pineapple Mock-jito that includes a splash of pineapple juice.
Negroni
If the Negroni is more your jam, try Clementine Cocktail Bar for the N/A Negroni, featuring non-alcohol spirits from Seedlip. Or head over to the West End and try the Phony Negroni at Great Northern BBQ Co. and raise a glass to David Lynch while you enjoy their Twin Peaks-inspired vibe. Nearby Troop has their own No Groni, but if you're feeling adventurous, order the Bartender's Choice Mocktail and they'll mix you up something tasty based on your mood.
Sangrias & Margaritas
Journey south of the border, or at least to South County, and try the No Worries Sangria at Coast Guard House in Narragansett. This blend of alcohol-free sparkling rose, fruit juices and lemon-lime soda will have you dreaming of summer. Warwick's Iron Works Tavern also has a Zero Proof Sangria featuring n/a cabernet, cider, orange juice and ginger ale. Want to spice it up a little? Check out the Courtland Club's N/A Spicy Margarita. A chili- and habanada-infused citrus cordial gives it just the kick you're looking for. If you prefer the classic version, try the Providence G Pub's Mockarita, featuring a tequila alternative and your choice of flavor including strawberry or mango.
Espresso Martinis
For an espresso martini without the buzz (unless you count the one from the caffeine) try the Espresso No-Tini at Marcelino's Boutique Bar or Sarto's Lavender Espresso Clean-Tini. The combination of espresso and lavender simple syrup is so tasty you won't even miss the vodka. And, while we're highlighting these two, it's a safe bet that if you're somewhere that serves an espresso martini, they probably have a zero-proof option. What's your favorite?
