Rhode Island's arts and entertainment scene is bringing a strong lineup of local events this spring. From live talent showcases and sketch comedy to music awards and a battle of the bands, there is no shortage of opportunities to support homegrown artists across the state.
The Search RI

The Search RI is a live talent production built to spotlight emerging artists across New England, evaluating performers on not just stage presence but on artistic growth, preparation, collaboration and professionalism. What began as an open call expanded to 45 artists across music, dance and comedy, ranging in age from 8 to 43 and representing Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Grand Finale takes place Saturday, March 14 at Park Theatre in Cranston. Visit thesearchri.com for the inside scoop on the finalists, how to purchase tickets and more.
Sketch Rhode Island
The Providence-based sketch comedy company focuses on developing local talent through short-form and original sketch work, with a mission to train, inspire and showcase performers while building community. The company is coming off two February shows and will return after St. Patrick's Day. Stay tuned to Sketch Rhode Island for venue and ticket details for upcoming events.
2026 Motif Magazine Rhode Island Music Awards
The 2026 Motif Rhode Island Music Awards nominees have been announced and voting is now open. To generate this year's nominees, Motif contacted more than 200 local sources, including venue owners, bookers, music writers and radio hosts, and received nominations from more than 60. Don't see your favorites? This year the Legends Program takes effect, requiring acts that have won three consecutive years to sit out, opening the field to new voices. Acts like The Providence Drum Troupe, The Quahogs, Jake Hunsinger and the Rock Bottom Band, Dudemanbro, Jabbawaukee and People Eating Plastic are taking a pass this year to share the wealth and make room for others.

Motif Battle of the Bands
Last year’s competition featured qualifying rounds at Narragansett Brewery and other Rhode Island venues, with the winning band from each round advancing to the final round, originally planned for PVD Fest stage. An ill-timed downpour postponed the final until January, at Medici, where Sun of Sound took home the prize. The audience votes at each stage, with the winner taking home a cash prize and bragging rights. Ready to enter? Applications are now being accepted for this summer's Motif Battle of the Bands 2026!
Rhode Island's creative community continues to grow, and these events are a direct reflection of that momentum. Whether you are looking for things to do in Providence this spring or want to support the Rhode Island arts and music scene, each of these events offers a way to engage with local talent.
