If you think March is just soda bread and zeppoles, you’re wrong. March helps kick off spring by reminding us why Rhode Island is so great. From quahogs to the Providence Flea, you’ll practically feel the sun on your skin (all the while staying indoors because it’s still pretty cold outside).
If you have new rack cards or menus, please make sure the Visitor Center receives them. It is the first place convention and meeting goers stop to find out what’s cool and what’s tasty. Have an event coming up? Perhaps a special event? Email Visitor Center Manager Elise Swearingen at eswearingen@GoProvidence.com to ensure your organization is represented at the Visitor Center.
CVB News
This month's Partner Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Blend on Federal Hill. Stop by to meet new partners, reconnect with old friends and learn what’s coming (and going on!) over the next few months.
Don’t forget about our yummy arrangement with the Providence Journal for our "Small Bites" series. Learn from local chefs how to do everything from whipping up fresh guacamole to perfecting steamed mussels.
Partner Update
Quahog Week, which made its debut last year, returns March 20-25. This weeklong celebration highlights the importance of Rhode Island’s wild harvest shellfish to the state’s history, traditions and economy. As part of the week, participating restaurants and markets will feature quahog-inspired menu items and deals, and Quahog Week partners will hold special events. Check out the website to find out which of our partners are participating (and their specials) – with everyone from Timmy’s to Matunuck Oyster Bar — you’ll be glad you did!
Country superstar Alan Jackson is headed to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on April 22 for his Honky Tonk Highway Tour. He’s bringing along a special guest — multi-platinum singer Lee Ann Womack. Grab your best cowboy boots and get your tickets now.
The Providence Flea is creating quite the buzz with their Spring Markets. Stop by Hope High School in Providence on March 26 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. to help add that extra something to your home after your spring cleaning is all done.
Help celebrate the Museum of Work and Culture’s "Salute to Spring" on March 26. There will be a poutine cook-off, live music and a chance to win a trip to Montreal.
We couldn’t talk about March without talking about the best (Irish) holiday on the calendar, St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17. With all of the action going on, we are very excited to attend the Rosendale’s 2nd Annual St. Pat’s Block Party. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the outside party starts at 5 p.m. There will be live music from The Tougas Bros Irish Band and Triad.
And, we can't forget about our Italian heritage with St. Joseph's Day on Sunday, March 19. Be sure to check out the "How to Make the Perfect Zeppole" video with Scialo Bros. Bakery on our St. Patrick's & St. Joseph's Day page.
