Visitors to the Providence Preservation Society’s annual “Festival of Historic Houses” on June 11 will have the opportunity to delve even deeper into the city’s rich past, as several other historic and cultural organizations are offering complimentary tours and programs.
The Providence Preservation Society, celebrating its 60th anniversary, presents the annual Festival of Historic Houses on June 11, 2016. This one-of-a-kind festival showcases contemporary living in historic homes, and will guide attendees through residences in the storied North Benefit Street neighborhood.
The Festival tour provides a rare opportunity to step inside private historic properties and learn about their origins and inhabitants, while viewing firsthand the modern-day living spaces in these prized, preserved spaces. The Festival will feature more than a dozen private homes, gardens and buildings. Festival-goers are also invited to enjoy a complimentary anniversary celebration, Cheers to 60 Years, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 21-24 Meeting Street following the house tours.
Purchase discounted tickets in advance through June 9 at noon. Tickets are also available day-of at the registration center at 176 Benefit Street.
Our neighbor, The Old Court Bed and Breakfast, is also offering a special stay-and-tour rate of $210 for Friday, June 10. The rate includes one night's accommodations and one Festival tour ticket. To request and reserve, please contact Old Court directly at reserve@oldcourt.com.
