Children’s Friend is the innovative leader in improving the well-being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable young children. We accomplish this by providing flexible, effective and culturally-relevant services, and advocating for programs and policies that support and strengthen these children and their families.

Age Restrictions: Yes, volunteers should be age 16 or older. If younger than age 16, volunteers cannot work in direct contact with our clients and must be accompanied by adult chaperones. If you choose to be an ongoing volunteer (more than once or twice, a background check will be needed).
Major Volunteer Projects:
1. HeadStart Program: Serve as a general Teacher's Aide either in the morning 9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 2 p.m.–5 p.m. in Pawtucket, Providence or Central Falls
2. Maintenance Volunteers: Site clean-up, anytime is appreciated
3. Holiday Gift Drive Help: First three weeks of December, sorting, wrapping and packaging gifts
4. Annual 5K Walk: Registration volunteers, water distribution volunteers and traffic management volunteers
Wish List: Diapers, winter coats (children or adults), baby supplies, books and children's toys
