Ten-time Governor of Rhode Island Stephen Hopkins enslaved at least six people in this house:
Fibba Brown, St. Jago Hopkins, Adam, Prince, Bonner Jr. and Prime. The house is one of the
few places in Rhode Island where we can view both the workspace of enslaved servants and
their sleeping quarters. Go upstairs and contrast the bedrooms of the enslaver Hopkins and his
family with those of the enslaved right next door.
