After the buzz of the holiday season, it can be tempting to hunker down and hibernate at home for the next few months. But this year, the Downtown Providence Park Network is giving you a reason to get out and explore downtown with Lumina, a citywide light festival from Feb. 1–17.

Lumina features POP! from Gentilhomme, an installation of five mysterious monoliths waiting for you to entice the POP! creatures by calling out, talking and even singing to them. Pick one and watch as the monolith gets brighter and brighter before the creature emerges or get a group of friends together and encourage all five to appear at once!
Additional installations will include "Harmonies," a collection of life-sized instruments throughout downtown, and "Light Lane," featuring bikes that you can pedal to create vibrant sound and light projections. Light-based installations from local Rhode Island artists, local cultural performances and a performance by Ice Dance International will round out the event.
Lumina is a collaboration between The Downtown Providence Park Network and the Downtown Improvement District. Visit the Lumina website for event schedules and information on local business deals in conjunction with the event.
