Winter Fun at Roger Williams Park Zoo!

Winter is one of the best times to visit Roger Williams Park Zoo. You can catch the snow leopards playing, the golden lion tamarins climbing trees in the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit and more. Roger Williams Park Zoo is offering half-price admission for their Winter Wonder Days through Feb. 28. Tickets must be purchased online in advance and the discount will be applied at checkout. Winter hours are Thursday–Monday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

In addition to viewing the animals, the zoo provides a variety of programming for children through the winter months. The Young Explorers workshops, best for ages 3–5, focus on a special animal or area at the zoo and present opportunities for parents and children to learn, explore and discover. The program is sure to keep the little ones entertained with a fun lesson, activity, craft time and an up-close animal encounter. Bring your child's favorite stuffed animal to the Stuffed Critter Clinic (Feb. 12–14) for a checkup in Our Big Backyard or explore Movement March (March 12–14) and learn about how your furry friends swim, jump and even dance.

With February school vacation around the corner, the zoo has brought back its ever-popular Zoo Camp. Running Feb. 16–20, Zoo Adventures gives children ages 6–10 the opportunity to enjoy a full day of crafts, hands-on activities, encounters with wild animal ambassadors and exclusive tours of the zoo. In addition to all the exciting events of the day, each attendee will have a chance to feed the goats in the Farmyard. Children will explore this year's theme, "Island Trekking," as they learn about everything from the Giant Tortoise of the Galapagos Islands to the tiny American Burying Beetle on our own Block Island. For kids ages 4–5, the zoo offers the Tadpole Academy: Books and Beasts with shorter sessions, featuring books about animals, crafts, games and exciting animal encounters. Zoo Camp registration is currently open.

Bundle up and plan your winter day out at the zoo, and don’t forget to grab a bite to eat at one the great restaurants in Providence.
