Providence Area Events This Weekend

Welcome to our GoProvidence Weekend Roundup with all the hottest happenings in PVD this weekend.

Providence's weekend kicks off with the African Film and Arts Festival, running through Saturday at spots around the city. Expect films you won't find on any streaming algorithm, plus traditional African music and dance that turn the whole thing into more of a celebration than a screening.

Downtown gets loud, in the best way, for PVD Fest on Friday and Saturday. Global performances, massive art installations, a parade, and food trucks dishing out the best local and international eats turn the whole downtown into one big open house. It's the kind of event that makes you grateful you live somewhere this creative.

Sunday brings the Swell Folk Festival to Lippitt Memorial Park, and it's stacked: live folk and roots music, a beer garden, food trucks, artisan vendors and family activities all running at once. Grab a lawn chair and just let the day happen around you.

Also on Sunday, "Operation Mincemeat" hits the Providence Performing Arts Center. It's a WWII spy caper about a stolen corpse and a plan so absurd it actually worked, told with way more laughs than your average history class ever managed.
