Providence Area Events This Weekend
Welcome to our GoProvidence Weekend Roundup with all the hottest happenings in PVD this weekend.
This weekend has a great lineup of Black History Month events. A Taste of Africa kicks things off Friday evening at Farm Fresh RI, with food, music, and traditions from across the African continent. Saturday morning, the Black History on Providence's East Side Walking Tour departs from the John Brown House Museum, tracing the neighborhoods and legacies that shaped this city. Saturday evening, head back to Farm Fresh for Culture & Couture: A Black History Month Creative Showcase for a Creative Marketplace, live performances and Runway Showcase.
Saturday evening, Tony Award-winning actress and singer Sutton Foster takes the stage at The VETS for a performance with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, a great excuse to dress up and make a night of it.
The Providence Children's Film Festival runs through Sunday, with independent and international films for kids and families screening at various locations around the city. It's a lovely way to spend a few hours with the younger crowd this weekend.
RI VegFest fills the WaterFire Arts Center Saturday and Sunday with local restaurants, artists, makers, and food producers. Whether you're a committed herbivore or just plant-curious, there's plenty to graze on. This event sells out so be sure to get your tickets today!
After dark, head downtown for Lumina, a striking winter light installation featuring illuminated musical note sculptures, an Iceberg Trail, and a nighttime centerpiece called Starlight. It's a nice way to cap off an evening in the city.
