Textile merchant Henry Lippitt, his wife and six children lived in this opulent Italian Renaissance Revival house, a testament to the burgeoning wealth of industrial Providence. This National Historic Landmark features finely crafted interiors. Preserve Rhode Island now operates the house as a museum.
The museum is open every Friday, May to October, Noon – 4:00 p.m. It is also open on the third Saturday of each month Noon – 4:00 p.m. Guided tours are offered on the hour with the last tour one hour before closing. Visitors can also take a self-guided tour and explore hands-on activities in the Lippitt Lab. A self-guided ASL (American Sign Language) video tour is also available.
