Literacy Volunteers of Kent County, Inc. (LVCK) is a nationally accredited adult literacy program that has been serving area families since 1980. The program, housed in Coventry Public Library, is a nonprofit organization affiliated with ProLiteracy. Based in Syracuse, New York, ProLiteracy was formed in 2002.
LVKC trains volunteers to tutor adults whose limited English literacy skills prevent them from functioning effectively in their homes, workplaces and communities. The program offers free, confidential, one-to-one tutoring to adults 18 years and older and youths 16 years and older who are not enrolled in a traditional academic program.
