The "like new" bicycles were donated back into the local community today. The Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence in Providence, RI received twenty-five bicycles. Twelve of those bikes will be used for their ‘streetworker team', who provide advocacy and mentoring in the lives of gang-involved or at-risk youth. The streetworkers build relationships, gather information, and mediate conflicts to prevent violence. The rest of the bikes were donated to the troubled youth that the Institute supports. Martin Luther King Center in Newport, RI received a dozen bikes as well.
In another act of giving and the holiday spirit, Twin River additionally donated over 920 pounds of food and a $50 gift certificate to Stop and Shop to the RI Community Food Bank.
Bike donations are accepted year round. Bikes may be brought to Twin River's back loading dock between the hours of 7am - 3pm Monday through Saturday. Please visit the Project Broken Wheel's Facebook page for more information.
Twin River is a world-class gaming, dining and entertainment destination with over 4,700 slot machines, Simulcasting, Comedy Club, Event Center and a host of dining options.
