Roger Williams Park Zoo
Roger Williams Park Zoo is perfect for spending a few hours walking around and enjoying the animals. And yes, the animals are out even in the winter! A lot of them are actually more active and playful in the winter, especially the snow leopards. Best of all, admission is half-price through Feb. 28.
Providence Children's Museum
Even if they're on vacation, kids can still learn while they're having fun. The Providence Children's Museum has plenty of interactive exhibits for the kids to play and learn. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or upon arrival. The museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Providence Children's Film Festival
The Providence Children's Film Festival takes place over 10 days with screenings of feature length and short films geared towards children of all ages. Filmmaking workshops, free activities and more bring inspiration and education from filmmakers around the world.
RISD Museum
With thousands of pieces of art on display at any given time, there's sure to be something for everyone's interests at the RISD Museum. Kids under 18 are always free, and all admission is free Thursdays after 5 p.m. and all day Sundays. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or in person upon arrival.
Providence Rink
A great way to exercise is ice skating. The Providence Rink is located in the heart of downtown Providence. Bring your own skates or rent them — there's no excuse not to skate and have fun with your kids.
The Cold Work Studio at Gather Cafe
Try an ice cream making class at The Cold Work Studio at Gather Cafe. Experiment with flavors and toppings to create your perfect blend. Best of all, everyone ends up with a pint to take home!
R1 Indoor Karting
If you feel the need for speed, buckle up at R1 Indoor Karting in nearby Lincoln. It features a European-style asphalt track and electric Biz Karts for your racing adventure. There’s also an arcade and interactive darts for the slower folks in your group, as well as on-site dining. For the adventurous, there's axe throwing at the Axe Bar (age 16+) and Timezone, a team-based escape room-style challenge.
