Do you like bikes? Even if you don't, the abundance of events the Rhode Island Bicycle Coalition is organizing for National Bike Month (May) may get you out there on two wheels! We thought we'd help you pick which events to make time for, so here's a list of our favorites from the more than 30 events you can find on

Tour de Tentacle - May 13

Providence is the hometown of “weird” and this collaboration between the Bike Coalition and Lovecraft Arts & Sciences Council will show what that means. Inspired by the arcane writing of H.P. Lovecraft, this bike-based quest around the city of Providence will require you and your three teammates to solve puzzles, fight (or help) monsters, and ultimately, save the city from annihilation.

Bike to Work Day - May 20

This is the event that started it all. In Providence, you can join Mayor Jorge Elorza and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse to celebrate a mode of commuting that saves you from untold dollars spent on that gym membership you never use. Check the website for additional events in Newport and in other communities across the state.

BikeFest - May 21

Now in its fourth year, this event is a family-friendly celebration of bicycling held at the Met School's campus in Providence. There will be food, live music, multiple activities for kids, and the signature Pie Joust, sponsored by Humble Pie Company and Women Bike RI.
