Travel through a world of myth and wonder with Roger Williams Park Zoo's Dragons & Mythical Creatures exhibit, open April 7 through Aug. 13. They move, they roar, they even breathe smoke! Get up close and personal with nearly 60 life-size animatronic dragons, unicorns, mermaids and more along the zoo's wetlands trail. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Loch Ness Monster. Personally, I'm dying to snap a selfie with a certain sea creature, just so I can caption it "Release the Kraken!"

RWP Zoo Dragons

Look for special events like Dragons at Dusk on June 8 and Aug. 10, when the exhibit will open at 5 p.m. for an evening of family-friendly adventure in the realms of fantasy. Sip & Stroll (May 9 & July 18) is a 21+ event featuring food trucks, live music, dragons and more. Sensory-friendly sessions one hour prior to the zoo's opening will be available on select Sundays (see website for dates).

Zoo bird show

And don't forget to check out the real-life dragon cousins that you see every day — birds! Daily interactive shows at the zoo will give you a closer look at the behavior of falcons, owls, cranes and more. Keep an eye out for some surprise encounters at this fun exhibit, which runs April 13 through Sept. 2 (weather permitting).
