Fingers crossed Punxsutawney Phil was wrong and winter will come to an end sooner rather than later. But, if the little critter was right, there's still lots of great things going on with our partners and here at the PWCVB.

Blackstone Valley is hosting "The Sustainable Tourism Laboratory" (STL) on April 20, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. STL will feature Megan Epler Wood, who is presenting a perspective on the United Nations Environmental Program's “Green Economy Tourism Report.” Participants will then engage in a 60-minute Cafe Workshop to work on developing ways in which Rhode Island may benefit from the United Nations Environment Programme Green Economy Tourism Report. To register, visit SustainableTourismLab.com.

We recently had a Partner Meeting with a fantastic guest speaker, Abi Vega of Community Work Services (CWS). This organization focuses on helping individuals with barriers to employment achieve community integration through their employment and life enrichment goals. Here are three opportunities for your organization to partner with CWS:

  • Employment Opportunities: Review open positions to see where a program participant could be placed.
  • Community-Based Work Experience: Place a program participant at your organization for training purposes, for which CWS covers their wage.
  • Job Readiness Training: Schedule a time for your HR team to volunteer for two hours to provide a job readiness training, which includes a mock interview, resume review and a worksite tour.

For more information, contact CWS Director of Business Development Abi Vega at avega@cwsne.org or 917-843-9101.
