The Providence Preservation Society brings back the Festival of Historic Houses this Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3. The festival begins with a Preview Party on Friday night at the Webster Knight House (1896-98). On Saturday, step into the past on a self-guided tour through more than a dozen private, historic homes in the Upper Elmwood Historic District. This is the only time during the year that you'll be able to view these homes, which exemplify architectural styles from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The self-guided tours are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the Knight Memorial Library. You can purchase your tickets at ProvidenceHouseTour.com

The festival is timed perfectly with the city's third annual PVDFest, running June 1-4. This weekend, Providence is teeming with things to do for fans of the arts, history and architecture.
