This event has been rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 21.

Seafood lovers won't want to miss the 9th Annual Ocean State Oyster Festival (OSOF) on Saturday, Oct. 7 (1–7 p.m.) along the Providence RiverWalk. The festival was created as a way to celebrate the oyster and highlight Rhode Island's aquaculture industry. What better way to do that than with a day devoted to showcasing local oyster farms?

The event features 15 Rhode Island oyster farms, including Aquidneck Island Oyster Company, Bluff Hill Cove Oyster Farm and Rome Point Oyster Company, just to name a few. In addition to sampling oysters, guests can enjoy live music, craft beer and wine, curated cocktails at the Hendrick's Gin Garden and a variety of food trucks.

OCEAN STATE OYSTER FESTIVAL 2018

In the spirit of sustainability, the OSOF partners with the Nature Conservancy of RI to recycle the discarded oyster shells from the festival for reef building. An additional partnership with Johnson & Wales University allows culinary arts students to earn credit for helping with the event.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 in advance or $15 in person on the day of the festival. Children under 12 are free. Oyster and drink tickets will be sold separately.

On-street parking is available along South Water St. and South Main St. There will also be a drop-off spot at the main gate, if you prefer ridesharing. The event is rain or shine. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are leashed.
