Fall is in the air and with it comes everything apple and pumpkin. You know it by the endcaps of the grocery stores: applesauce, apple cereal, apple and pumpkin pie mix, pumpkin hand soap and even pumpkin aftershave (yes, it’s a thing, I checked).
Now, if you’re not in the mood for the basic PSL (aka pumpkin spiced latte for autumn amateurs), we found some delicious cocktails around the capital city that will get you into a fall mood.
Apple Cocktails
Escape the brisk fall air as you mentally check out on a Mediterranean vacation with every sip. The Apple/Anise cocktail from Marcelino's Boutique Bar represents the sweet side of autumn. Medium-strong and well balanced, this drink features Maison Rouge VS Cognac, apple brandy, house-fermented apple, honey, lemon, prosecco and arak — a traditional Lebanese spirit made from distilled grapes and anise. Pear Perfection

If pear is your preferred autumn fruit, have no fear. Angelo's has a tasty Spiced Pear Italian Spritz, served with a quirky pasta straw. Or head to the Courtland Club for their Owl of Minerva, which features a fig-infused vodka and spiced pear liqueur. Maple Magic
For those who like a little maple in their fall drinks, we recommend the Maple Old Fashioned at CAV or Malted Barley. For a zero-proof alternative, head to Troop for a Sparkling Maple Switchel mocktail, a delicious blend of maple syrup, ginger, apple cider vinegar, lemon and ginger ale.
Fall Sangria
Who doesn't love a sangria? It's the perfect blend of wine and cocktail, and with so many variations, it's easy to find a great seasonal blend for autumn.
