La Festa di San Giuseppe (Saint Joseph's Festival) honors Saint Joseph, the patron saint of workers and families. While traditionally held on March 19, this year's celebration moves to June to take advantage of the warmer weather. This isn't just any festival, it's a cultural experience that invites you to participate in meatball and zeppole contests, browse unique vendors and enjoy live music, family-friendly games and more. Whether you're of Italian descent or simply someone who appreciates a good zeppole, this festival offers something for everyone. Don't forget to wear red in honor of the saint!

As the warm weather continues, Al Fresco on the Hill returns, transforming Federal Hill into an outdoor dining paradise. Local restaurants expand their seating directly onto Atwells Avenue, creating an atmosphere that transports you straight to the piazzas of Italy. From 5 p.m. to midnight each Saturday, you can enjoy live entertainment and roving artistic performances while you dine under the stars and soak in the old-world atmosphere.

To celebrate summer, Federal Hill pulls out all the stops with a three-day festival that showcases an incredible diversity of food, entertainment and culture. Two stages of live entertainment ensure a musical soundtrack, while restaurants and vendors offer everything from traditional Italian specialties to international flavors. Local artisans and merchants display their unique wares, making this the perfect opportunity to find something special while supporting local businesses.

Fall brings Federal Hill's crown jewel event — the annual Columbus Day Festival. This four-day celebration transforms Atwells Avenue into a bustling festival ground that showcases the very best of Italian American culture. With more than 80 food, art and retail vendors, plus games and amusement rides, you’re sure to find something for every member of the family. Three entertainment stages provide live music, while the Galbani Cooking Stage offers culinary demonstrations that will inspire your own kitchen adventures. The highlight of the weekend is the traditional Columbus Day Parade on Sunday, creating a perfect blend of celebration and cultural pride.

During the holiday season, Federal Hill transforms into a winter wonderland that captures the old-world elegance of European Christmas traditions. The neighborhood becomes a living postcard, decorated with beautiful handmade Rima lights imported from Europe. Federal Hill holds the distinction of being the first location in the U.S. to feature these authentic cross-street lighting installations. Christmas on the Hill offers more than just stunning visuals. Carolers fill the air with holiday melodies, the annual tree lighting ceremony brings the community together, and free trolley rides add a touch of whimsy to your evening stroll. It's the perfect setting to start new holiday traditions or renew cherished family customs.
Plan your visit around one of these signature events, or better yet, become a regular visitor and experience the changing seasons on Federal Hill. Whether you're savoring handmade pasta on a summer evening, joining in a saint's day celebration or marveling at European Christmas lights, Federal Hill offers the experiences that create lasting memories.
