Kick off your summer with the Federal Hill Summer Festival — inspired by the traditions of the many festivals found in the small towns and villages throughout the summer in Italy. Enjoy European-style outdoor dining at the best of Federal Hill’s restaurants.

While there, take in live entertainment, browse through the neighborhood's shops, and check out the dozens of vendors set up along Atwells Avenue.

The Federal Hill Summer Festival runs on Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18

Atwells Avenue will be closed from Dean to America streets. Valet parking lots (rates vary) and street parking may be found on parallel and side streets.

Federal Hill Providence

Providence’s historic Federal Hill neighborhood spans iconic Atwells Avenue and the surrounding streets. Largely settled by Italian-American immigrants in the early 1900s, Federal Hill effuses a sense of warmth and community that embraces visitors and locals alike. While the neighborhood has evolved, the influence of the Italian people and culture is ever present. When shopping or dining, take the time to talk to a shop owner or interact with a food purveyor, as they will likely share a story about the history of the store or neighborhood.

West Side Historic Walking Tour

Stories of immigration and activism in a global neighborhood beyond Interstate 95 lies Providence’s West Side. A bridge arching over the interstate takes you into the city of immigrants and strivers, of industrialists in Broadway mansions and mill workers in cramped triple-deckers.
